|
After sifting through the province's literary output from the past year, the jurors for the Alberta Literary Awards have announced the finalists in nine categories. And NeWest Press is well represented among them: Michael Davie's Fishing for Bacon, which is already a finalist for the Alberta Readers' Choice Award, has been nominated for the George Bugnet Award for Fiction, while playwright Gordon Pengilly is one of three contenders for the Gwen Pharis Ringwood Award for Drama for his radio script Seeing in the Dark, one of the "other plays" included in his anthology Metastasis and Other Plays. And would it seem crass to use this occasion to note that both of these wonderful books are available for purchase through this very website? Gosh, we hope not.
The winners will be announced on May 14 at a gala ceremony at the Delta South Hotel (4404 Gateway Boulevard). Click here for more information about the Alberta Literary Awards or the gala itself.
