Three young authors, one exciting tour

Three fearless first-time authors are joining forces this November in an epic cross-Canada road trip/book tour. Named after their respective publishing houses, Snare Books (Montreal) and NeWest Press, “Snaring the New West” promises a string of dynamic events, ongoing accounts of their experiences as they launch their premier titles, and a glimpse into what it means to be a young author in Canada.

Meet the heroes

First, there’s William Neil Scott , author of the “new weird” magic-realist tale, Wonderfull (NeWest Press), a self-described “liar who makes up imaginary places and tries to pass them off as real.” Joining Neil is Natalie Zina Walschots, a pink haired punk poet who’s launching her first book of poetry, Thumbscrews (Snare Books). Completing the team is ryan fitzpatrick, called “The Angriest Man in Calgary” by some, a poet and substitute teacher who moonlights as the front man for the indie band The Jagatha Christies. He will also be launching
his first book of poetry, Fake Math (Snare Books).

Where they are: across Canada and online

These three authors will participate in 13 events across Canada, beginning in Montreal and ending in Vancouver, all while sleeping on friends’ floors, chatting with authors along the way, and blogging about their journey at http://snarenewest.blogspot.com/ .
