Aritha van Herk Aritha van Herk was born in central Alberta and studied creative writing at the University of Alberta, where she received a Master of Arts. Her acclaimed works of fiction include Judith, The Tent Peg, , an No Fixed Address, an Amorous Journey, and Places Far From Ellesmere. Her short stories, essays and reviews have appeared in many publications including The Globe and Mail, The Calgary Herald, Chatelaine, Elle, Canadian Fiction Magazine and Canadian Forum, among many others. Van Herk lives in Calgary where she teaches Creative Writing and Canadian Literature at the University of Calgary.
