Stan Dragland Stan Dragland was founding editor of Brick—a journal of reviews—and founder of Brick Books, a poetry publishing house, where he still serves as publisher and editor. He has published three books of adult fiction: Peckertracks: a Chronicle, Journeys Through Bookland and Other Passages, and The Drowned Lands. His "critical collage" titled Wilson MacDonald’s Western Tour, recieved the Gabrielle Roy Prize for criticism of Canadian Literature, and has been followed by three other books of criticism: The Bees of the Invisible: Essays in Contemporary English Canadian Writing, Floating Voice: Duncan Campbell Scott and the Literature of Treaty 9 and (through NeWest Press’s Writer as Critic series) Apocrypha (winner of the The Newfoundland and Labrador Rogers Cable Nonfiction Award).
Dragland has also published a book of prose poems or non-fiction stories, titled Stormy Weather: Foursomes. This title was also shortlisted for the Newfoundland and Labrador E.J. Pratt Poetry Award. He has delved into theatre with his dramatic play-adaptation of Halldór Laxness’s novel, The Atom Station, co-written with Agnes Walsh. Other books by Stan Dragland include Simon Jesse's Journey (1983) and Running the Goat Books and Broadsides (2002, co-winner of the bpNichol Chapbook Award). Dragland currently resides in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
