Michael Davie While Michael Davie has lived in South Korea, it was his years spent in the Rocky Mountain towns of Waterton, Banff, Canmore, and Jasper, living immersed in an often eccentric resort subculture, that most influenced his creative output, first in publishing a cartoon series, The Last Resort, then in literature with his first novel, Fishing for Bacon, which will be released in March 2009.
Davie graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Management and studied Creative Writing at the University of Calgary and the Victoria School of Writing. He now lives in Calgary with his wife, Shantael, and son, Samuell. This author has audio: In March 2009, NeWest Press will have the honour of publishing one of Canada's most talented young writers: Michael Davie. His first novel, Fishing for Bacon, creates a character that will remain in the minds of Can Lit lovers for years to come. That character's name is Bacon Sobelowski, an 18-year-old boy with an absentee father, a neglectful mother, and the worst timing one can possibly have. And all he wants is to find his "someone". Who is Bacon Sobelowski? Click here to find out. Why did his mother name him Bacon? Click here for the answer. Who is Bacon's absentee father? Click here to listen.
