Shawna Lemay was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. She has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Honours English, and has completed her Masters in English—both at the University of Alberta. Lemay lives in Edmonton with her husband Rob Lemay, who is a visual artist, and their daughter Chloe. She currently works for the Edmonton Public Library. Publications by Lemay include Blue Feast, Still (self-published), Against Paradise (McClelland & Stewart), and All the God-Sized Fruit (McGill-Queen's University Press)—the winning title of the Gerald Lampert and Stephan G. Stephansson awards. Her most recent work is entitled Calm Things: Essays, which was published in 2008.
