Kay Stewart and Chris Bullock

Kay Stewart and Chris Bullock are the authors of police procedurals featuring RCMP Constable Danutia Dranchuk, including A Deadly Little List (NeWest Press, 2006). The first two are set in and around Victoria and Salt Spring; the third, Unholy Rites, takes place in England’s Peak District. Recently published is Tour de Mort, in which as a rider in the first Tour de Rock, Danutia is faced not only with the ravages of childhood cancer but also the deadly effects of human greed.

In addition to the mystery novels, Kay and Chris have also published short stories, personal essays, poetry, academic articles, and writing textbooks. Both taught at the University of Alberta before moving to Vancouver Island. Kay is active in the crime-writing community, having served as President of Crime Writers of Canada and co-chair of the premier Canadian mystery conference, Bloody Words, in 2011; she is also on the board of the newly-formed Gorge Park Community Gardens. Chris, an ardent hiker, is active in various environmental and community groups in Victoria.
