Born in 1925 in Edmonton, Alberta in the south side neighborhood depicted in both The Aberhart Summer and The Ice Eaters, Bruce Allen Powe served in the Canadian Army overseas in 1943-45 rising to the rank of private. On veteran’s credits he earned both his B.A. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Alberta. During his career Powe worked for the federal government and held jobs in public relations and advertising until 1990 when he started his own corporate writing company, Powe Communications. Powe is the author of five books including Aberhart Summer, Aldershot 1945, and The Ice Eaters. A proud father and grandfather, Powe now makes his home in Toronto, Ontario, and is a member of the Writer's Union of Canada and the Canadian Authors' Association.
